Why did Nancy Pelosi tell everyone in her speech that Abortion wasn't a decided-upon issue in Catholicism?

I'd definitely hope Ms Pelosi isn't consciously trying to deceive the public, including Catholics. Abortion has been condemned by the Church, with the earliest doents dating to the 1st century. Shame on her!
