I installed the newest 8.0 AVG, now my PC is slow...?

I had no trouble with the 7.5 version. But since installing the new version, it seems to be alot slower.... Is there a solution? Or is there better freeware out there? I also have Malwarebytes on it. But, it never bothered the old version. I only run the MWB on occasion.
