Luke was a Jew, not a Gentile. Who agrees?
I accept as accurate my belief that Luke the Evangelist was a Jew, Hebrew of Hebrews. Most theologians believe he was a Gentile. They do not have any biblical evidence to make such conclusion. I have plenty of internally biblical evidence to confirm my newly accepted belief. My question is, what do Jewish scholars think about Luke? I think they should have the final word on the matter, provided that they can understand the idioms, culture, and religion in which the books of Luke-Act was written. Is it possible that a first century Gentile had such a profound knowledge of the Old Testament?
